January 7th / 8th sees the return of the annual extreme enduro event “Valleys Xtreme” located at Walters Arena, South Wales – SA10 9LU. Venue: Walters Arena, a disused open cast coal mine with 4,000 acres of amazing hill climbs, forestry, tricky single tracks, fast flowing fire roads and of course glorious Welsh mud!! It’s also the home of the Dawn to Dusk Enduro. Continuing on from last year’s successful event, a strong field of riders will be taking part in the UK’s only 2-day extreme enduro. The event attracts vast numbers of riders of all ages and abilities who are all keen to tackle the multi-lap, 15mile circuit.
Day 1: Saturday will consist of a series of qualifying heats to see who can earn their place to line up on the front row for Sunday’s main race. Qualifying will consist of 2 separate timed sections. Initially a fire road sprint test, similar to those of the Erzberg Rodeo, then an extreme style test. Cumulative times from the extreme test and the fastest time from the speed test will be combined to give the riders final qualifying time. Day 2:
Sunday’s main race kick off with riders leaving in rows of 25. Riders will be tested by many of the challenging obstacles awaiting them on this year’s event. The lap will be similar to last year with a handful of specially selected sections kept in the lap, but also with many new tracks and more “NO HELP ZONES” which will make the event both challenging and different for all the riders involved.\
In addition to making this event unique, riders will have a time allowance to finish the race. The finish flag will come out for the first rider to complete the 3 laps, once the winner has crossed the line, the remaining riders will have 1 additional hour to complete the lap they are on giving everyone a fighting chance to say “I did it!” Race Directors comments: “The track has been designed to provide a challenging, yet demanding course for a competent level of rider and spectator’s will be able to get up close and personal with the riders while helping them find the best lines” says Nick (Race Director).
Awards: The coveted finisher’s medal will be dictated by the amount of full laps completed. Gold: 3 Laps Silver: 2 Laps Bronze: 1 Lap

“I realised again today why I actually ride and race motorbikes, It was a huge reminder to me that the sport I fell in love with still does exist now and then and that the true Heroes of Enduro still do exist, the weekend riders, the ones that fight to get there and grit their teeth and make it to the finish at all costs, it was great to see and it was an awesome event. Well done to everyone who finished, even the guy who I used for grip in the river, to the marshals, helpers and organisers and the enduro fans who stood out and helped all weekend. This event really did make me smile a lot.” David Knight’s review from 2015.
