After heavy rain the conditions of the first round of the European Enduro Championship at Gouveia, in Portugal, changed over the night and the track switched into a good shape today. Without the dust, senior E3 class Italian Oscar Balletti took the overall win in front of the reigning champion, his compatriot Maurizio Micheluz.
Third place in the overall ranking for a rider, who was still a junior last year: Olivier Nelson. In the first day, the Swedish rider had big disadvantages through the dust. Andreas Linusson, also from Sweden, who has had switched from 300 2-stroke to the 250 4-stroke KTM, won the senior E1 class. He also took the lead in the championship, ahead of French Luc Breban and of the reigning champion of the class, Italian Guido Conforti, who took the second place in Day2.
With his fantastic performance in the overall ranking, Olivier Nelson also won his senior E2 class. The Day1 winner Nicolas Pellegrinelli was fighting with several technical problems and was only fourth, behind British Jamie Lewis and reigning champion Marco Neubert. Once again German Arne Domeyer won in the Veterans class. He took the lead in the championship ahead of the reigning champion Sebastian Krywult from Poland. Krywult finished in second place in front of Finnish Mika Paavola. Another clear victory for Jessica Gardiner in the Women class. There was no chance for Swedish Hanna Berzelius nor for Marita Nyqvist from Finland. French Theophile Espinasse, who won the overall in Day1 snatched a double victory in the junior E2 / E3 class in front of his compatriots Hugo Blanjoue and Jean-Baptist Nicolot.
