“WOR Events produced the 3rd running of the popular TEAM EXTREME Enduro last Sunday in the club’s fantastic Bala woodlands in North Wales. Running a 9-mile lap of superb and varied terrain, the track had everything and could be described as a proper Hare and Hounds Enduro course with the added spice of around 5 or 6 sections that made up the Extreme bit. It really was a billed with the challenge being achievable extreme for the masses whilst being enjoyable and challenging with the finish flag offering a massive chunk of satisfaction for the rider too.
3hrs was the duration and a 10:30am sharp start, in glorious sunshine, saw a very busy number of riders head off into the Enduro challenge that lay ahead. The format was simple, riders rode either as a solo competitor or with a team mate, those in the teams simply had the same number on one another’s bikes and rode the course at the same time together to clock up as many laps for their team. Charlie Frost (KTM) was in Solo class A and was the outright winner of the event as he pushed hard from the start, Only Jack Barwick (Jack was in a 2-man team) managed to get in front of Frost and stayed there around lap two for a while before the hard charging Frost came back to sharp end and stayed there, eventually pulling away from the entire group and securing a very solid 12-minute lead and win margin from Runner Up, Dawson Marriott. Dawson again going well on his GAS GAS 2502t to show great promise and skill levels from a young lad as he matched Frost’s 7 laps in 3hrs. Third place in the Solo A’s went to Lee Thomas on the Beta as he showed consistency and determination to plod out a podium finish.
Jamie Williams was a young man on mission and simply blasted his 85cc KTM to the overall win in the Solo B class with a start to finish winning ride. Williams managed to pull a 3-minute advantage over Solo B’s runner up, Sam Morris. Sam in turn was 10 minutes ahead of 3rd placed Rob Parry with all the top 6 riders in class finishing on 6 laps each after 3 hours. Jack Barwick and James Meston where in top form in the 2 MAN A group as they completed a combined total of 13 laps and took a very comfortable 14-minute advantage over the Runner Up pairing of Dudley and Bentham, whom deserve a special mention for their efforts as they in fact started on the wrong line at the back of the pack and had to push their way through the entire field to achieve their combined glory on the podium, and with both riders riding as a tribute to their late friend, Ross Hall, it was a fitting and emotional day for the pair. 3rd spot went to WOR stalwarts, Owen Jones and Rhys Evans, now men and fathers but riders from teenagers through the ranks with WOR over the years. The top 4 teams in the A’s achieved 13 laps per team. 2 Man B’s glory was the property of Roberts and Wright as they were the only team in class to secure an 11-lap score pushing the pairing of Jenkins and Brutnal into the Runner’s up spot with Salt and King rounding out the podium albeit 10 minutes down on Jenkins and Brutnal with both teams finishing on 10 laps combined. Rob Reese and Gary Jones where in their 3rd successive Team Extreme and rode superbly again to take the 2man C group, the Vets, with a combined 13 laps and a solid.
