Back in January, we followed Paul Bolton and the young competition winners on their free training day with Bolts at Wern Ddu Quarry. The response was incredible with over 50 youths being nominated…and more requests coming in since the competition closed. It just shows how enduro and hard enduro, in particular, is growing in popularity. Thanks to Robin at Impressive Flooring, Dirt Bike Spec and Cowm Quarry, Paul was able to re-open the comp and offer another training day for 8 different lucky young riders!
The sun made a welcome appearance on Friday at Cowm Leisure, giving us great hope for next week’s Fast Eddy British Extreme round, which was postponed due to heavy snow and ice! The competition winners, most of them on 85cc’s, were in for a half-term treat to remember. It was certainly an action-packed day covering skills such as clutch control, line choices, bike positioning in rock gardens, hill climbs, controlled wheelies, endos and skid turns. Paul commented, “The determination and dedication that these young riders show is inspiring to me, never mind them being inspired by me!!! I love to share skills and techniques and really plant some seeds so they can go away and practise. I never had any training and have learnt the hard way, so I’m just trying to help them to cut a few corners and focus on exactly what makes a difference”.
Paul is working towards introducing a Youth Academy for 2020, but in the run-up to that, he would love to put on a few more days over the course of the year for other youths to take part in a free day. So if you are a company or individual that would like to get involved and do your bit to support the next generation of enduro riders, drop Paul and Lisa an email at firstname.lastname@example.org …it will be well worth it!
